Newspapers communicated not only local, regional, and national news but also provided an outlet for advertising livestock auctions, slave hiring, estate sales, and farm utensils.  Within the advertisement section of this site, images have been taken from the Miner's and Farmer's Journal, The North Carolina Whig, The Western Democrat, and the Charlotte Democrat.  The advertisements provide a small window into 19th Century literature in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina.
