Welcome to the main webpage for the M.A. program in History at UNC Charlotte. We appreciate your interest in our program. Within our three main geographic fields of the United States, Europe, and Latin America, our department has particular strengths in the history of: African Diaspora and African-Americans, from slavery to civil rights; Old and New South; War and Peace from the 16th century to the present; Business/Technology/Medicine/Environment and Urban History. We also offer a specialization in Public History, with a focus on new media.

Latin American Studies
In addition to award-winning faculty, our program offers the advantages of a major and diverse metropolitan area, with numerous historical institutions, sites, and archives with exceptional offerings in Southern, civil rights, and local business history. From our program, many graduates have been admitted to nationally reputed Ph.D. programs and law schools.
Others have found employment in community colleges and secondary schools, businesses, museums, libraries, historical sites, and preservation organizations. Students may pursue the M.A. degree full or part time. Assistantships are available on a competitive basis. For more information about the application process, please go to Admission Requirements.
