ADVISING

  • For current undergraduates declaring a History major or a minor
  • For current history majors or minors

Step 1: Email the designated advising lead. State whether you want to declare a major or minor; or pose your specific advising question.

  • May 11 – June 28: Dr. Chris Cameron ccamer17@uncc.edu.
  • June 28 – August 28: Dr. Amanda Pipkin apipkin@uncc.edu
  • The summer advisor will either answer you per email (minor declaration or general questions), or send you an email with a Google Meet link (major declaration or complicated issues).

Step 2: Your Advising Conference (if applicable)

  • If you have been sent a Google meet link, be sure that you have the Google Chrome browser installed on your laptop, and that the latter has an operating camera and microphone.
  • Click on the link at the designated time to be connected. The Advisor controls the meeting; so be patient till the connection is established.
  • The advisor will share their screen with you so you can discuss degree requirements, your advising sheet, etc. Be sure you have a list of questions you would like to have answered.

Step 3: Post Advising

  • Your advisor will send you a filled-out advising sheet per email. A copy goes to the Department as proof you have been advised
  • By the end of the day, the Department will lift your advising hold (if applicable)
